I bought one off ebay a couple of years ago from America. (I didn't realise at the time) Then I remembered about the difference of PAL and NTSC (the formats in the UK and US respectively). I was worried in case it didn't work. Anyway it was delivered with a variety of plug adaptors. I tried it and it worked no problem.
A few days later there was a tax demand from customs. I think it was for about £30 but I'm not too certain of the amount.( The price was £280). On top of that I had to send a bankers' draft. My bank charged me for sending it and the receiving bank charged me for receiving it. So on the whole not a very good saving.

Yes, but....
No UK or European warranty
The difference in price may not be so appealling if you get hit with import duty and VAT when you bring it back into the country.
The Americans use a different TV system to ours, we use PAL which has higher resolution and better colour quality, they use NTSC which doesn't.
I wouldn't buy a camcorder abroad.

you'd have to get an adaptor because the USA use a different voltage system than the UK.They are some like 110 volts,UK 240.
