Yeah, it really sucks. I'm all for cleaning New York up a little, but do they have to rip out its soul while they're at it? I was born and raised in New York, and I hate to see so much of what made NY special being driven out.

It was coming. Same story for the Rockaways. Developers are taking over. Even Donald Trump has taken over a part of Jones Beach and will build a restaurant and convention center on the boardwalk. Rockaway has seen condos sprouting up and those who are living in Section 8 housing in Coney Island will soon be forced to evacuate. Coney Island up until the mid-60s was a standing carnival filled with amazement and fun. Once the neighborhood changed Coney Island Hospital on Ocean Parkway became busier than the broadwalk. Now the rich and powerful think they could make money by forcing the poor out and welcoming the affluent to the seaside community. They are probably right given how many people have moved to the NYC Metro area in the last 10 years. Today NYC Metro is home to 22 million people and still more are moving in. By 2020, the population will be 35 million if not more.

First Sheepshead Bay is getting full of fancy condos, then there is a Target moving into Flatbush Junction, and now Coney Island. Brooklyn is so fancy schmancy I hardly recognize it any more.

Maybe if people actually went there they'd be able to afford to stay open.

Same as CBGB's would still be there, if they'd paid the rent.
