A few months ago at a musical show I went to, a girl at my school had a wonderful solo. I saw the show four times just to hear her. I was talking to my friend, who is also friends with this girl, and I asked her what she thought the singer would do if I went up to her and asked her to sing it again for me. I feel like she couldn't very well just say 'no'. She's very outgoing, and goes to a special school for her singing, so she's aware that she's very good. What's your take on this?

she might say no but how do you know unless you ask her? I mean what is the worst that could happen if she says no all that will happen is you wont get hear her sing not really the end of the world but if she says yes you get to hear her sing which is good. all im trying to say is that you have got nothing to lose

I agree %100 with Lynn...I am a singer with a degree in performance and I HATE it when people ask me to sing them something... it is a lot of pressure. Just because someone is good at something doesn't mean that they don't get embarrassed when put on the spot. I am an outgoing person too, but I never sing on the spot like that and I wouldn't take it personally if she says no to you. She might say yes, but if she doesn't, don't think less of her as a person... It is a very awkward situation to be in.

Well alot of her response will probably depend on her mood. While you asking her to sing for you is a very high compliment, she may have people asking her all the time and be sick of being expected to entertain everyone all the time. Try just telling her how much you enjoy her voice, and that you would love to hear her perform again sometime.

actually, she could.
If you were a doctor, and somone stopped you on the street, saying " I hear you're a good doctor. Prescribe me some medicine." what would your answer be? Mine: Make an appointment, and then we'll see.
People who train at a professional level need to be taken as professionals, and not as performing freaks.
we don't really necessarily perforn because we need the praise ( although there are far too many performers who cannot generate their own self praise/criticism, and only get by on outside information. Sad)
You may pay her a compliment, but it doesn't mean she's at your command. "operate, right now!" pretty silly when you think about it.

don't worry about what she says. if she's good she should have no problem singing if 4 u. if she can get up on stage and sing the same thing over and over again she should have no problem doing if 4 u alone.

Another possibility is that she might think you're a potential stalker if she knew how many times you've been to hear her..
