"This past Memorial Day, the religious right’s $27 million “Creation Museum” – an institution dedicated to promoting the lie that science supports the notion of a 6,000-year-old Earth – finally opened its doors.
Over the last few weeks nearly 25,000 concerned Americans have joined our effort and signed our petitions condemning the museum’s blatant attempt to push bad science and deceive children, including 5,000 educators from all 50 states.
Last Monday, DefCon took our message directly to the “Museum” and the organization behind the anti-science campaign, Answers in Genesis. As the first public visitors walked through the doors, a plane flew over head carrying a banner that read, “DEFCON SAYS THOU SHALT NOT LIE.”
Over the last few weeks DefCon’s effort has garnered national media attention, shining a light on the bunk science that AiG had hoped to disguise with their $27 million “Museum.”

"Our concern is ensuring Americans know what’s really at stake, and thanks to the hard work of thousands of DefCon members, we succeeded.
Over the last few weeks DefCon’s effort has garnered national media attention, shining a light on the bunk science that AiG had hoped to disguise with their $27 million “Museum.”
In fact, last Monday night, DefCon advisory board member and noted physicist Lawrence Krauss debated AiG head Ken Ham on Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor."

joetho, if you want to feed the homeless go to John Hagee and ask him to sell his million dollar mansion.

I neither support nor oppose. I seek beyond the rhetoric from both sides.

Living in the U.S. we have a lot of rights and the freedom to express ourselves. I don't necessarily believe in Creationism but I do think if they want to have a museum showing that, it's fine. (There used to be a "Museum of Death" out here in California.)
I draw the line when it is a museum that young kids will be taken to for school field trips since they will get inaccurate information. I think there should be an age minimum- jr. high or high school so that these children are able to make up their own minds about this museum.

As long as no public money goes to fund it I don't care what the wackos devote a museum to. If it's a private organization and no one is being [explicitly] harmed they can do whatever they want. Frequently protesting something just brings more attention to it anyway. Drawing attention to it might just make it a rallying point for the fundies. I'd much rather it fade away then gain martyr status.

there are hundreds of museums in America and around the world. Ones devoted to things as silly as bellybutton lint!
Do people tell them to spend their money on feeding the homeless instead?
This museum is the efforts of people who believe what they are doing, and it is their right to do it. If people do not like it, they are free to not go there, and since schools I believe don't take kids to religious places, there won't be school trips to the museum.

Awwww suck it up!!! The "tough guy's" wimping out now? WOW.. I though non believers were so much more strong minded than believers..... If this were the case you'd LIVE and let live.. .
We've had evolution fairy tales, telling lies about species changing to other species with no collborating fossils, and big bang theories in our faces throughout our school years, and there's countless museums and television shows that claim evolution as FACT not theory and WE'VE all been dealing with it. Toughen up!!
Last I hear the creation museum is individually owned, the owner has a right to make his museum and freedom to express his views, if you don't like it, don't go. Simple as that.
You enjoy the freedom to express yourself, so do we!

The Scientologists can make a museum about Xenu for all I care. Still doesn't make it true. People are going to believe what they want to anyway.
Actually, when faced with the sheer stupidity of some of their theories, some people may smarten up!

I could care less what these idiots believe. I was raised to believe in creation, but when I grew older and saw the overwhelming evidence for evolution, and how it can be supported in the Bible, I believed in it. And, I am still a Christian.

The best way to defeat it is to expose people to it.
Let people know what the loons are claiming, and they'll be relegated to nutjob cult status pretty fast, even in America.
