The glass in your patio door will be probably be of the toughened type which is impossible to cut after hardening, so it will not be possible to fit a catflap. If it is normal plate glass it can be done at your risk, you will have to ask a local glazier to take a look.

That sounds expensive as glass cracks. I don't know that it'd be impossible, but I'm thinking it'd be impractical as you'd be ruining a very possibly expensive glass door.
It would be cheaper to hire a carpenter to make your cat flap in a nearby wall. That way, in the future if you move or decide you don't want it anymore, the cat flap can be easily covered.
If you do suceed in getting someone to put it in a glass door and decide to sell your house, the new owners may find this detracting and seek a reduction in the price of the house.

The person who said to contact a local glazing firm is quite right. However, the glass will be tempered (toughened) I have found that firms insist on suppying a complete new panel. They buy the glass. put the hole in and then temper the glass afterwards. In my experience that`s the easy bit. The hard part is getting the cat flap frame to stay stuck to the glass. If you crack this latter one please let me know.

"Your Local Glazing Co....spot on. Beware, it will not be a cheap job, they will have to replace the whole panel. Check also the fitted thickness of the flap/ distance between doors if they slide. Longer term, can cause condensation problems. Is there no other place to fit it???

That was a nice offer by sosgez but you might be better off just going to your local Home Depot or Lowes or any type of home improvement store. They have them you can just install yourself. I bought our doggie door there and it just slides into place. Good luck!
