My good friend's son (who's practically like a nephew) is going to be a year old on Friday but they're having a big party on Saturday afternoon. (Daddy is a truck driver & won't be home til late Friday.) I want to get a present but I don't know what to get him cause I've never had to buy for a kid before. He hasn't seemed to take an interest in anything particular yet but is amused as long it plays music or makes noise. Anybody have any suggestions for what I could get him????

Hi, how about personalized books? Kids love to hear their own name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Sesame Street, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Dinosaur Land, Teddy Bear Land, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful, unique & special gift... It's something they can enjoy now and keep forever!! Good Luck!

Since he is only 1 and won't really be aware of who gave him what, why don't you consider getting him a gift card to a clothes store, or a store like Babies R Us or Target. I found these gifts to be among the best because I could use them as I needed when my son wanted or needed something. A savings bond is also a great idea.

My son's favorite present when he turned one was this vibrating ball thing. I am racking my brain to remember the name of it.

It looked like the everlasting gobstopper on the original Willy Wonka movie..... a ball, but pegs that stick out of it in all directions and it vibrates. They love it!!!

Wait, it's called a bumble ball!

You can probably find it at most stores like Target, WalMart, K-Mart, etc.

It's made by the Ertl Company.

Type in Bumble Ball on google search or yahoo search and you will see it. It's a great first birthday gift.

Happy birthday to your friend's son!

every little boy should have a hammer for bashing things with!

Also if he likes music then mabe some little musical instruments e.g. egg shakers, maracas, drum. He will love them not only now but my daughter who is almost three still loves getting them out and "making music" along with a cd of toddler music.

you would be very shocked that whatever you purchase, at that age, they have greater relaxing with the "packing packing containers" the gives you are available, than they do with the present. At that age, issues that makes noises, buttons, push/pull, experience, they are testing those little arms they like to locate. what's usually relaxing is getting their own mini cake so they are able to tear that dude aside, do no longer ignore to movie it, those are priceless techniques you could seem back repeatedly back and chortle your tail off!
