I live in the usa. is it normal to go 2 colors where you live?

You get what you pay for really. If you want a good quality hairstyle you'll have to pay the price.
Many hairdressers offer free consultations so why not check some out in your area? Have a look at the client's who leave and see if their hairstyles are done well.

the most expensive place does not mean its the best
most good salons will give you a free consultation
and you should accept their advice, get a regular stylist somebody who cares about your hair, and how it suits you
not a stylist that will do anything to you take your money and run, and leave you with over processed and damaged hair
always check a salon out, look at clients coming out, look how busy it is, how clean, and what attention you get
