Like, where the singer just uses so much energy in her/his voice. One that you can really SING. Not just plain and flat, but high piched etc.

Tough question...I could never nail it down to just ONE song, but these came off the top of my head.

Etta James - "At Last"

Elvis Presley - "Amazing Grace"

Janis Joplin - "Ball And Chain"

...or just about anything by Otis Redding!

Well, Eva Cassidy is the most soulful singer I know... it's too bad she passed away in 1996. But her rendition of Fields of Gold is probably the most soulful song I've heard.

Also love Holly Cole Trio's Tennesse Waltz. Beautiful.

I'll cover you (reprise) from RENT. Jessie L. Martin puts so much passion into that song, and if you've herd I'll Cover You with Angel and then you hear this, it's the most moving thing in the world. I love that song with all my heart.
