It's good for looks purposes. You can carry weight in your stomach better than someone with a short torso and not look like you have a gut (especially if you weigh more). If you have a long torso paired with short legs it may look a little off, and especially if you like the long style shirts that are out nowadays, these make you look more off balance. So if you want to balance it out, just wear the opposite, longer rise with a medium length top tucked into your pants or skirt...it's a very classic look.

I think males usually have longer torsos, and females usually have shorter torsos. Look at people driving in their cars. If you can see their head above the headrest, it's usually a man. And if you don't see a head it's usually a woman. Or see a male and a female together that are the same height; usually the female's waist is higher than the male's. You may have a long torso for a female, but I'm sure it doesn't make any less feminine.

good it means that even if you gain weight you'll always look thinner than someone with a short torso.

a long torso means your legs are shorter than your torso. I have MUCH longer legs than torso....i personally would rather have long legs, short torso, but it's just your own personal preference!
