i started hanging out with this girl whos a couple years younger with me shes a junior in high school. i went over to her house and she seems a little to close with her dad she walks around the house in just a bra and underwear and i've seen her dad pat her on the butt and hes always staring at her!! its just them in the house (her mom died and she has no siblings) they whisper and she sits on his lap and it seems like shes trys to act sexy around him. they act like there lovers !! am i imagining things? what should i do?

That is verrrry creepy. Hopefully you are just blowing things out of proportion, but if you notice something that you know is wrong, contact someone who can help. Or if the opportunity arises, talk to her about it.

I agree that isn't normal for a Daughter and Father to act, in seeing that type of action would tell you more than likely there is abuse, but to prove it would be difficult, and it would be difficult for a young teenage just to blurt out she is being abused if this is all she has known being brainwashed enough to believe this is normal after her mother died. Very hard call to say what to do to help anyone that isn't asking for the help or isn't aware that the way her father and her are living is wrong and has become normal for her. To many question to be answer on this one, like how long has her mother been dead that would help understand the situation better and how long she has been alone with her father. But either way it doesn't make it right. Good luck on helping her if you are able to gain her trust she may not want it, but whatever comes of it, help her if she doesn't want your help do it anyway once you do know if he is abusing her, if not it will have to be your call either way, it will benifit her in the long run should you know the truth. Remember she has a lot to lose since her mother is already gone, if she was being abused even then and more so after it would make it a lot more difficult for her because she would lose her father , after she already has lost her mother so she would feel she was losing her father that has taught her a different sort of love that isn't normal but to her it is because that maybe all she knowns since her mother died. I wish I could help more by knowing more... I wish the best for the both of you...

She is his daughter. If she feels comfortable walking around the house in her undies, fine. If she was wearing a bikini it'd be the same. Unless he touches her in an inappropriate manner or she is being abused, there's nothing legally wrong with this. They may be very close because her mother is deceased and though it may seem strange to you it may be the way their family functions. Maybe try talking to your friend and asking her about it, maybe make a school counselor aware of what you have seen and that you are concerned. However without any proff of illegal or endangering actviity there's really nothing you can do.

I totally understand, you should tell her that she's older and can't prance around in her undies like she could when she was 8 or 9 and undeveloped. Then try giving her some examples and tell her that's it's good to be comfortalbe with your dad but it's not healthy for their relationship and that it's just not cute. Good Luck! :)

I hope it is just your imagination. Keep in mind that if they suffered a loss of her mother, his wife, it might have brought them together even more than before. As far as walking around in enderwear and bra, I see nothing wrong with that. Not different the wearing a bathing suit

This situation is inappropriate at the very least, and it could be much worse. I think it needs to be evaluated by an expert. Please, please report this to Child Protective Services in your area. To find their contact info, do an internet search on "child protective services" (in quotation marks) and the name of your state, or look in the phone book.
