Mr. Saunders, for a top contributor, you sure are myopic in your opinions. The truth of the matter is that there are two forces at work in the world, one for good, represented by Jesus and one for evil, represented by Satan. Christ's work is to carry out the Father's plan of salvation to mankind. Satan's work is to thwart the Father's plan any way he can. Therefore, anytime you see the Father's plan being carried out, you will also see great opposition being carried out against it. Thus, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being the best personification of the Father's plan on the earth today, receives the greatest level of opposition from those that are influenced by Satan to counter God's work.
The Church has the full plan in place to offer exaltation to all of God's children that will listen and accept His plan. Satan can't stand to have that move forward and will stir up all kinds of persecution, calumny, revilings, bigotry and hatred to stop us. It is against logic and justice but those never were among Satan's strong points.

(1) Many people hate anybody with religious beliefs different than theirs. (This seems especially paradoxical for Christians, because Christ emphasized loving your enemies & talked about many mansions in His Father's house.) The LDS is more "different" than most Christian sects.
(2) There is a history of violence on both sides. Apparently that old hatred has been passed down through the generations. Josesph Smith was murdered by a mob. The Mormons were more or less driven into the desert. There was a wagon train massacred by Mormons over a hundred years ago & some people still hold that against Mormons. I remember my father blaming Mormans for that.
(3) Most Mormons are very conservative. Some people hate all conservatives. (I myself dislike them for some of their conservative positions, i.e. banning prostitution. Although, the only state with legal prostitution has a large Mormon population. I don't know how to interpret that.)
(4) A friend of mine hates Mormons because they have a lot of children. She thinks the world has too many people and not enough trees.
(5) Mormans send out missionaries (including within the United States) to recruit more Mormans. I've met a few Morman missionaries. They were non-pushy, non-judgemental, and very eager to help people.
(6) The Morman Church is believed to be rich and powerful.
(7) People believe that Mormans are against blacks and working women.

again i said down below about what they said about my wife. other then that just the fact they do use other doctrines and the Bible says not to.
they are good people. however first you should not have to by people to join your church. we have an ex mormon and the mormon church keep trying to pay her stuff for her to get her back. you should not have to do that.
second i think it is the fact that mormons use other books. not just the Bible. some of which contradict the Bible. or say something different. like becoming a God. the Bible says there is only one God and no others nor will there be any other Gods. the Bible also talks about us to watch for those who come with false doctrine or other doctine that is not the Bible.
plus then they do stuff when you get to the temple. like a secret handshake. i also get a lot from mormons trying to convert me how the Bible talks about temples and my church does not have one. first i say a temple is for everyone. not just special people but it was open to everyone who wanted to go. the mormon temple is not open to everyone. second it was a place or prayer and worship. third the Bible says we are the temple now. so we dont even need a temple because we are the temple now. and even so a church building is a place to worship and pray so that you can say is a temple. anyways. i know a couple mormons and we go rounds all the time. but we are still friends. of course i am also an apostolic pentecostal. and many people have things to say about us too.

Not me. I have great Respect for the Mormons. The Missionaries are Gods disciples. If I knew for sure that the Mormons are truely Gods, only Religion, I would become a Mormon. But I don't know and need more proof. Until then, they are Special people to me. The History of the Followers is such a wonderful story. How could that be wrong ? It is not wrong and may God bless them all.

When you're on a crusade to convert the world, you alienate a lot of people along the way. Any aggressive missionary effort will always be suspect and the subject of ridicule or at least some suspicion. Even Ghandhi had his detractors.
However, many of the teachings of the church cannot be taken at face value anymore, and the leadership belittles intellectuals and scientists who don't "Prove" the Book of Mormon or Book of Abraham is 'true'.

I think that many people feel that they have THE ONLY WAY, and that there is only one path for spiritual development.
We all should guard against this type of narrow minded thinking and try to listen with an open heart to hear others speak of their spiritual journey.
Although, I feel that there are some intense sex stereotypes within LDS, mainly implying that a woman's spiritual development is linked to her husband, you find these in many religions, including mainstream Christianity.
Is it possible that some LDS members are just as judgemental and self-righteous as mainstream Christians or other religions? Self-righteousness comes in a coat of many colors.

Most people don't Mormons just like to play victims of persecution.
Nor do they really help people besides non Mormons. I remember during the 80's and the civil war in Nicaragua a friend was telling me how the Mormon's had tons of food and would only give it out to people who would convert. Common story heard in most third world countries of the Mormon missions there.
Also yes I have many many theological and social complaints against the Mormons, but a Mormon would never listen to them.

Not bigots. If Mormons were honest enough to admit that they were a separate religion from Christianity (like the Muslims or the Jews do), then people probably would not pick on them any more than any other religion.
BTW, disagreeing with someone is not bigotry. People have a right to disagree.

Well to point a fact the mornon have help alots of people. But they aren't the only ones ours church has help people in need. There will always be people who speak evil against religions. But hey all religions are picked on not just mormon. It seem like the ones that are pick on are jw's and mormons but I am not against any of them. I feel they have their way to believe and I do think they do a good service for the world but other religons do too.
But Jesus said in the Holy bible that people would be critilize for their's belief and what they do but we are to serve him and live ours life as we are suppose to do for him . I wish this world would get along with each other it would be a better place to live .
But Jesus foretold of times like this before he is suppose to come back but maybe he will come back someday but I wonder if it will be in our life time enuf said for now.
