Oh I know what a panicing situation this is. First off.... Your hair will NOT get lighter, unless you want it yellow so the only way to go is darker. Dark brown is the color I would suggest, because a red-brown will enhance the orange and you wil end up with orange-brown. You will also need to cut off all the dead ends, I would suggest about an inch. As for care you will need a coloring shampoo with a mouisture conditioner. I would also get a non-protien deep conditioning treatment. You should use that twice a week for 15 mins and once a week overnignt. Also, avoid over exposure to the sun because this will cause the orange to come out.

Find a new salon. One that has a hair color specialist. You will probably have to go darker. For the damaged hair there is not much you can do until it has grown out except for deep conditioning and hot oil treatments. Or you can get a really cute short hairstyle. Those are about your only choices. Be sure and tell the new specialist what all has been done to your hair. EVERYTHING. It is hard for them to help you if you leave any of the details out. I would NOT go back to the original salon except to get a refund.
Good Luck.

1. take pictures of the damage
2. demand a refund
3. tell them you will be back for them to fix your hair
4. use tide on your hair to see if it helps take out some of what they did
5. go back and tell them you want your hair the ORIGINAL color
6. tell them you want a moisturizing treatment at no charge or you will go to an attorney to seek damages if the job isn't done to your satisfaction.

by this point they should be more than happy to fix the problem to avoid having the stigma of ruining someone's hair!

cut and add a blond dye to it it will even out the harsh yellow i have blond hair and i hate yellow and orange hues in my hair...and use shimmer lights shampoo by clairol its purpl so it helps get the brassiness out...but cut ur hair ur better off with shorter nice hair than to have a brillo pad on ur head...goodluck
