When Christians speak of Jesus, they ALWAYS call Him Jesus Christ, that is, Jesus, the anointed one. Their church is called Christian, not Jesian, to honor this anointing. Yet the person who anointed Jesus from her alabaster jar of nard is reviled by the church and called a prostitute.

Who anointed your bishop and priest to give them the holy orders that they follow? Was it a prostitute? Or someone as important or more important than those who received the oil?

Why do Christians hate the person who made them "Christened?"

Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute.

She was associated with Mary of Bethany, who performed the anointing of Jesus in the Gospel of John. The woman who performed the anointing in the Gospel of Luke was an anonymous "sinner" from the city. It is assumed that the sinner woman was a prostitute, but even that is an extrapolation. So if Mary Magdalene was Mary of Bethany, and Mary of Bethany was the anonymous sinner from Luke, and if the anonymous sinner from Luke was a prostitute, well, there goes Mary Magdalene's good name.

The Catholic Church has already apologized for this misinterpretation, but the damage is already done. This question shows that the word has not been widespread enough to remove that notion from people's heads.

Because if the Gnostic Gospels are correct she was "The Apostle to the Apostles" and rightly should have been the first Pope. Plus, Christians can not accept that Mary Magnalene was either Jesus' consort or wife (again as the Nag Hammadi Gnostic Gospels proclaim.)

Mary M was delivered of 7 demons

but why should any woman in the Bible who came to know Jesus be reviled... they all changed their ways because of Jesus.
...

the woman anointed his feet of the dirt on them. washed them with her tears and dried them with her hair.

i personally think that she did that because of the scripture "beautiful are the feet of them who bring good news of salvation."

Jesus was first anointed of the Holy Spirit after baptism in water by John the baptist.

Jesus later quoting the scripture to confirm it. "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me for he has anointed me..."
