im on medication and want to donate blood is this possible?

i got told by my doctor that my blood is very useful as im rhesus - O

Look on the website www.blood.co.uk that gives all the information on who can give blood.
I should think they would recommend that you don't give blood if you have high bp or any heart condition as I assume you are if your on beta blockers.
Check the website out though and if in any doubt call up the help line.
It's a great thing that you want to donate blood but remember not to put yourself at risk :)

most medications do not preclude donating blood, with the exception of blood thinners (high dose apirin, coumadin) and narcotics, to which others can have allergic reactions. Just tell the people at the donation station what you take, they can tell you if you can donate.

It completely depends what you're taking. You have to check with a doctor, but the answer is usually no. American health systems prefer the better safe than sorry approach.

depends which medication you are on, I would go and tell the nurse what i was taking. She would say yes or no
