I found a dead sparrow in my pool, was probably there for at least 3-4 Hours, and its one of those like above ground pools, we have chlorine and I put some pool shock in it. But do you think it's contaminated and dead if go swimming in it? Cause maybe bird flu...cause I dunno how bird would die in there, unless my cat hurt it and it died and fell in or something...I dunno what to do, and my dad will NOT drain it again no matter what.

No, you won't get bird flu from a pool! Just chlorine shock it and it'll be okay.

to be safe contact a vet and ask..this is an important question..they dont know what causes bird flu and so your wise to be somewhat concerned... i doubt if its contaminated... but they say if you see dead birds on the ground to avoid them so what if this bird was ill and died in the air and landed in the pool...please call and ask a vet ok for safety purposes.... and let us or at least me know...too im curious as to what he says...good luck...

the chlorine and ph acid should kill it, most virus' cant live long outside a host anyways. The bird prob died of other natural causes so dont worry.
