Go for huge wavy curls! This says "I'm gorgeous and I didn't even try!" If you have bangs, put them in a side sweep. If you don't, part your hair on the side and put a cute clip or flower on one side. You could also sport a nice headband!

I have my 8th grade graduation dance this Friday and I'm wearing a yellow dress too!! lol what a coincidence. I'm getting my hair done like this: http://www.prom-hairstyles.us/pictures183.htm or like this (I'm not sure which one yet, tell me which one you like best) http://www.imagesourcepro.com/iba_images/iba_037.jpg but it's a formal dance.

If it's just a regular dance I think that you should have it straightened or curled half up, half down or in a classic bun. And maybe if you have it curled you could have one piece curled on the side of your face. And you could ask them to twist the pieces going back (kinda hard to explain, sorry). Have fun at your dance!!

Go to the hair place
If you can get some little streaks or somthing. Decide weather your going to wear your hair up all night or down all night and just get them to throw some mouse into it. its easy to make a regular style look nicer by just adding some mouse or streaks or a pretty clip somewhere.

My personal favorite is the side swept bangs look.

One of the best things you can do for your hair is make sure you have a healthy diet, eat fresh fruit and veg, and cut down on junk food, crisps, fizzy drinks etc, as these types of things affect everything, the way you look, health, etc.
Start taking multivitamins, again this will help all round.

If you want your hair very straight, try John Frieda's Frizz Ease serum - this stuff is amazing! You put a few drops on your hair when wet, then blow dry/style/straighten as usual, but it makes your hair poker straight. Just don't put it on your roots as it can make them look greasy, just apply it to the tips.

You can also get serum which seals split ends. You can get this at places like Boots, or hair salons, depending on how much you want to spend. One I use is by Avon:
http://avonshop.co.uk/avonshop/default.a...
"Put an end to split ends. Glossy formula instantly smoothes, nourishes and hydrates dry, damaged ends. Contains sunscreen for added protection.", only £4.50.

It soundslike you have quite similar hair to mine - I also straighten but when I am feeling lazy I use a sea salt spray on my hair - I blow dry my fringe straighht but leave the rest wet and spray the sea salt srpay on, it creates loose, chunky waves, like beach hair. Add a little serum too, for shine.

If you can't seem to get shiny hair naturally, buy a shine spray (John Frieda do a really good one for about £3) and buy a shampoo that creates shiny hair, Herbal Essences are the best I find, as they create high shine and make your hair feel really, really soft!

Good luck!!

if you are wearing a dress, i totally recommend wearing your hair up! it will help accentuate the dress, and your body. Since it's summer it is probably sleevless, which is even a bigger reason to wear your hair up! your shoulders/collar bone area is one of the sexiest areas, so dont cover it up!

anyway. chingons are a BEAUTIFUL hairstyle arent too formal... i think this would be an excellent choice!

A nice not too fancy knot at the back of your neck with some braids (very small) throught the hair that's pulled back. Lemme see if I can find a pic..here we go. Front like this:

loose waves would be pretty... Have the stylist take sections of your hair and wrap them around the barrel of the curling iron...
