Yes and depending on the breed, your friend could end up getting attacked and hurt badly. I would suggest that you not do this.

Yes, they instinctly know that you are in danger. They can sense fear. They can sense anger and sadness as well. Acting won't necessarily work, though, because the emotion won't be there. Dogs are pretty bright, and there is instinct involved. They'll fall for the "pretend like you're throwing something" trick, but not usually for anything that involves real fear and emotion. All that said, even if you really were endangered, there is never any guarantee how a dog will react to it. Some dogs will cower or hide, while others will attack. It isn't something you want to play around with. Someone could get hurt.

Dogs sense danger, pretend fighting might not bring a rise from the dog, however, if the dog does sense you are in danger, your friend could be hurt badly by the dog. Dogs also sense people that aren't "good" for you. If your dog doesn't like certain people that come to your home, there is reason behind it, the dog senses the person cannot be trusted, when you see this behavior, listen to your dog, they do know what is in your best interests.

Yes they do. We had a boxer when I was a kid and she was very protective. In those days parents could spank us without getting questioned about it, but when my dad would try to spank us kids the boxer would bark and growl at him and try nipping his hands. He had to shut the door to discipline us. Now I have a 2 year old son and a 5 month old basset hound puppy and if we go towards our son with arms crossed or something she doesn't like she will step in front of my son and bark at us, she will sniff him to make sure he is ok and basically sit on him and bark at us. Who would have thought, he picks on her so much, but she is protective over him. It's not something that you can necessarily teach a dog, it depends on the breed of dog and the attachment with certain people.

yes of course they do but dont get your friend to lay into you as if it was rea or your friend will be in danger as your dog could seriously attack him, my dog used to start growling at a person hitting me and on the beach he ran after someone just for talking to me so make sure your dog doesnt get a hold of your friend as it could cost your dog!

No. Dogs are not protectors. They need to be taught this behavior. Often people mistake territorial behavior for protective behavior but the are very different.

They have good senses and usually pick up your vibes(is that a word?)

If your friend is around the dog a lot or is a bad faker, it might not work.

Tell your friend to hit you when you least expect it and then see what kind of reaction you get from your dogs. Beware!! Someone might get bit.
