Most states require that only licensed electricians make repairs or additions to breaker boxes if the main one in a house!

Check your local building codes for details, if you violate the code, your homeowners will not have to cover the damage you as an untrained person will cause.

if it's 240 vac then you use two breakers tied together so they will trip together as one, one on each line coming in ( houses have 220 vac supplied to circuit panel not 120 vac like most think If it is a smaller unit and requires 120 vac then one breaker with the other wire going to the neutral bus in breaker panel.
