My Yorkie-Poo (yorkshire terrier mixed with poodle) has a blister or zit like thing on her back. It didn't seem to bother her too much although she was licking it. I noticed it, and cleaned it, pressing on the area around it a gooey puss came out along with a more firm "head," I cleaned it with a damp cloth and put neosporin on it and then covered it with a bandage. The wound has a decent sized hole in the center of it and is weepy (a clear blood tinged liquid). Does anyone know what it is? What would be a good course of treatment? I don't want to take her to the vet and have them say just leave it alone it will heal on its own and then charge me $75 (kind of poor right now). Please help!!

To give you some perspective on size, the bump is smaller than a penny and the hole is about half the size of an pencil eraser.

It could be an infected hair, bug bite, animal bite... no telling.

Drain it, clean it (peroxide works well) and keep an eye on it.
If it isn't clearing up after a few days (keep cleaning it, too) check with your vet.
But I bet all will be fine in a day or so! :)

Sure sounds like an abscess to me and needs the attention of your vet. The vet might install a tube to keep it draining and will definitely give your dog an antibiotic treatment.

Sorry but anything puss filled is infected. Dig really deep into your wallet and bring this dog to the vets. Lancing it your self can only make it more infected and cause the dog more discomfort.

Your vet is the best you can do for your dog.

Probably an abcess. The vet would clean it out and give her antibiotics.

Could also be a ruptured cyst. Either way, best to have it checked if it doesn't look better by tomorrow.

yep. It's an abcess. Get to the vet. Bite the bullet. Ask the vet if he/she needs any help cleaning kennels or something.

I'm not quite sure. Take him or her to your local vet so they can make the correct diagnosis.
