depends on the size and type of plane.
Commercial airline piolots make the most money. if youre a pilot on the air france superbus, you make around $300,000 per year. The smaller the plane, the less you make. If you are a pilot on a single engine private jet, expect around $90,000.
if you work for fed ex or other cargo, expect around $70,000.
the education level is dependent on what type of plane you want to fly. Commercial pilots require the most schooling and flight time.
most pilot jobs are given to ex military, because no education can make up for the airtime and experience these pilots have. a commercial pilot license requires 2500 hrs of flightime.. in the military, you fly 2500 hours every 3 months... 6 year contract.. ya get the point
schooling for a commercial air liner will set you back about $150-300,000... the smaller the plane, the less its going to cost.
a private license can cost as little as $10,000.

Pay scale for pilots is all over the chart. If you're a freshly minted CFI building time you'll probably be near starvation. The $25 - $40 an hour sounds nice on paper, but if you fly only 10 hours a week you'll be hurting. A new ATP flying the right seat on a commuter or regional airline may struggle to get $25k a year. A senior captain on a major airline can easily earn well into 6 figures.

How much do aviation types make?

Any 2-4 year degree, grades not an issue, your just a bus driver anyway. Boring job, with little or no security.

Most jobs do not go to military pilots as was once the case. A lot less of them around.

Big business has ruined the career, I know, I was there. You fly a lot of years and take a lot of sh*t before and if you make it to the majors. Once you do, it's a lot of bad attitudes and big egos.
Ever since the movie Top Gun came out in 86, the market has been flooded with pilots. When this happens, it drives down wages and companies treat pilots like crap.
Flying sucks as a career.

Big bucks. Usually College and pilot school. Many years! Not necessarily.

Check the airlines for their individual requirements.
