The Word of God says that God wrote them on the tablets that Moses carried down the Mountain to the people.

According to Moses, they were written by the finger of G-d.
1. No corroborating evidence, and we've since lost the stone tablets.
2. Moses is known to have exaggerated the extent of the Great Flood, so we don't know what else he exaggerated.
3. Moses had an agenda of getting vengeance on Egypt for making him a powerless prince.

The key word is "wrote".
The first time the 10 commandments were given, God himself wrote them.
His thoughts written by Himself.
Moses, however, smahed those tablets to pieces.
God told Moses to put together a new set.
So, you can argue over words, but basically the ideas are from God.

the first set was written by Gods own finger but Moses broke them...then God commanded Moses to rewrite them.
