Opinions are like noses. Everyone has one, and they all smell.
Your question painted with a rather broad brush, don't you think?

The Bible is open and available for all to read and follow. However, it is the Christian belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the instruction book of life for a Christian--meant to be followed and obeyed. There are various levels of Christianity. Some Christians are Christian merely by name or family tradition, while others are Bible believing followers of God. Typically, the Christians who are close with God are more likely to follow the teachings of Jesus. However, please know that everyone is a sinner, and no matter how hard we try to be like Christ, we will always come short with sin. People make mistakes. Fortunately for us, Jesus paid the price for our sin, such that we can enjoy eternal life with God. But, as Christians, our goal is to follow Christ's teachings as closely as possible. Please do not reject Christianity based the ego-central lifestyle of one Christian you know or saw.

i don't think its a matter of being a true christian i think its a matter of how you live your life according to the word of God...the problem occurs when Christianity is divided...each denomination looks down on the other which is where the ego comes in...set all that a side and celebrate what God has given to you and what Christ gave up...why do you think christianity is ridiculde so much...we would rather turn a shoulder that give a hand...
and to call yourself a "True Christian" give me a break...thats you thinking your better than any one else...might as well make your own denomination of "true christians" since being catholic...or baptist...or lutheran isn't good enough for you...all others aren't 'true' enough...thats were most of the egos are...

There are far fewer "Christians" than the world percieves there to be... Being a True Christian puts one in a small minority... it has nothing to do with what country or family or culture one is born into.... much of the world percieves of Americans as being "Christian" when, in fact, only a small minority truly are.... just because someone claims, or actualy thinks, they are, dose not make it a fact..... And even those of The True Christian Faith make no claim to perfection... all are flawed in some way.... But ALL True Christians strive to follow the teaching of Christ... and Only those of The True Christian Faith know The True Teaching of Christ. So the World is not able to honestly judge whether or not a Christian is following correctly or not... The teaching of Christ is not binding on those not of The Faith... and The teaching of Christ may not be imposed upon any not of The Faith.... so don't worry about the Christians beahavior... concern yourself with your own.

I rather suspect that the problem lies with church leaders who are relying on imperfect interpretations and imperfect translations of very incomplete texts, written in ancient languages, many years before or after Christ was alive. These leaders like to think that they are perfectly following and promoting the teachings and philosophy of Christ and of his Father, but with all the variations of Christianity in existence today, I rather doubt it.

Well I think we have passion, not ego. I think we could care less what you think of us, but more about what you think of Christ. Since Christ is the main reason for Christianity it feels like an attack or blaspheme at the Lord and that gets us a little testy at times. We all fall short my friend... all of us....

There are many fakes. We shouldn't call ourselves Christians if we don't follow the Word of Christ.

I think the problem is that the people of which you speak are "religious Christians" instead of people who have a very personal relationship with God.
Man made religions....and unfortunately, unless a personal relationship with God is also present, men will tend to go their own way.

I don't think it's Christianity that is the problem, I think it's the politics of life in the church. Life is a big popularity contest and of course that will follow you into the church if you let it.
