...love to bring up the name of Madelyn Murray O'Hair, as a representative of Atheists??
This woman was MURDERED over a decade ago (nearly 12 years to be exact). She was the most hated woman in America - and was hated by most Atheists, who thought that she did not represent them... If anything, she was the biggest problem facing atheists in this country in the 1970's and 80s!
Yet, when a Christian brings up an Atheist, its either this tramp or Hitler (who, for the record, was a Christian who was heavily involved in the occult, attempting to search for the Spear of Destiny - the spear that pierced the side of Christ....why would an atheist be interested in that?)
WHY?? Cant let sleeping dead dogs alone? Or, is this the only mean, ugly, hateful person that you can find to represent atheism, regardless of the fact she is long dead?

Why do you think? The Christian wants to connect atheism to these icons of sin. Even though the argument may be rejected it is likely to leave an impression on the counter-arguer that their is a causal relationship between this even though there isn't thanks to the numerous connections and thus counter examples between Christianity and homo/genocide which are conveniently "swept under the rug".

I do not know about other Christians, in fact, her name rarely comes up, I do not hate the Women, I only know of the hate that she seemed to have had towards Christianity, and the damage she did to this Country.
Another Thing, You associated Hitler with Christianity.
That is an Oxy-moron, he was in no way a Christian, many people who are Evil can "Claim" They are Christian, that does not make it so "for the record" Hitler's Obsession for the spear of destiny is proof of that, The Spear of Destiny, wether it exist or not is not importatnt, it "if it exist? has no power, it is simply a Historical artifact, It is not important and means nothing. Just because it may have the Blood of Jesus on it is not an indication that it has some "supernatural power" .

Madelyn Murray O'Hair? To be honest, I've never even heard of her, not to mention bringing her up.
And I don't bring up Hitler either, as I have no need to. I currently have no interest in asking a question about the second world war. I know all I need to know on that subject at the moment.
Seems to me like you're the one bringing them up.

Atheism-No belief in GOD and does it really matter in the end that inspite of all your belief in GOD you were not a good human being and the person who was a atheist was better than you.
What do you think will happen when you and this atheist stand before their makers for the answers. My answer is even if atheist do not believe in GOD ,God will open the Heavenly gates because the Atheist was a good human being and inspite of all your belief ,if you are not a good human then you may not be welcomed there. And it makes no difference to the GOD that you believed in the GOD but failed as a human.

Atheists mention people like Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Fallwell, Jim Baker and act as though those men and their hypocricy represent every Christian in America. We DO know how you feel on this subject matter.

Dear Vernon, I agree with you, but then again, Christians always have to bring up dead people. What is beyond me is why Christians feel they have to preach to everyone instead of worrying about their own souls. Pray, pray, pray instead of insulting others. May the gods bless you. Smile and be happy

I don't bring up their names. I don't judge a group of people in a generalizing sweep. There are atheists on here who are guilty of the same. All the remarks about Falwell and Hinn come to mind right off.

Because people (both Christians and atheists) confuse someone being vocal as being a leader.
And a "Christian who was heavily involved in the occult" is an oxymoron.

They try to display atheists in the worst light possible by pointing out it's craziest or most despicable members. Like atheists often point out westboro baptist church and jerry falwell as representative of christianity. Anything to make the other side look bad. For the record, I'm a Christian, and I had never heard of this person.
