It depends heavily on what leg it is.
If it's a front leg and only intermittent- it's probably a soft tissue injury.
I suspect that it's actually a rear leg though? In that case it could be just a soft tissue injury or a partial tear of his cruciate ligament in the knee. Small dogs like these also commonly have luxating patellas and that can cause them to have an intermittent limp/ hop as well.
Take him to your vet for an evaluation and some Rimadyl (dog anti-inflammatory and pain med- related to Ibuprofen but do NOT give Ibuprofen, it's toxic to dogs). If some rest and Rimadyl solves the issue, then it was probably a soft tissue injury, if not then it's something more serious that needs investigated further.

This dog needed the vet 2 weeks ago, not to be dosed with aspirin! You NEVER give a dog any human meds unless directed by a vet. She wasn't x-rayed so you don't know if she has internal injuries or what might be wrong with her. How about getting her to the vet instead of leaving her in pain.

could be a hairline fracture, dogs have very small brittle bones in their legs, might be worth taking it to the vets for a check up, i've heard that if you know someone who is on the dole they don't have to pay vets bills as part of a government rule, hahaha, so take them with you if you don't want to folk out lots of money for an x-ray, especially if its not your dog.
good luck

You can feel a hairline fracture or a injured growth plate or even a joint sprain. This dog needs a vet to asses whats going on with the leg.

have had dogs all my life and have to say they are very good actors! if they have had pain and you have treated them with sympathy they will continue to limp on a leg that no longer gives them pain, if your vet says there is no longer a problem then ignore any limp and they will forget it themself.

Probably not serious if he doesn't seem to be in pain, might want to consider an x-ray for a stress fracture.
