Plz don't say its to scare someone. How did saying boo come about?
An exclamation in English used to evoke or suggest surprise, typically associated with ghosts.

Some idiot with nothing better to do has gone through all the replies and given them a negative score - without any useful suggestions.

I don't know, but it's interesting that the equivalent to "boo" to scare people in French is "hou" - pronounced [oo] and in Spanish mu - pronounced [moo]. Perhaps the [oo] sound is ghostly and the preceding sound is random, as long as it's a voiced plosive of some sort.

maybe one day some one just said the first word that came to mind when they were trying to scare some one and ever since people say boo

i think it cames from a movie...i don't remember the tittle..i think it is Monster .Inc...there is a little girl named Boo and she likes to say 'boo' to the monsters.

I think people just randomly want to shout out boob but don't want to sound pervy so they say boo instead
