Well, that might be because Paul was a misogynistic homophobic bastard who had a stroke/epiphany and he liked to fantasize. A lot.

I think you mean by NOT calling Paul's letters the word of God. In any case, I assure you that Paul's letters are the word of God. The thing with Paul, and a lot of what you read in the bible, is that you have to take into consideration the historical context and what his words would have meant to the people at the time. Paul's work is also not the easiest thing to read, so more than likely you're not understanding what he's writing. I would recommend picking up a study guide to help you.

A greater insult (to the truth, at least) would to be to call Paul's letters something other than the word of God, because that's what they are.

Why you can't believe Paul's writings is simple: you choose not to. Why that is, I can not say, but if you need a label for it, call it unbelief. That said, I'm curious how you feel about the writings of Peter, John, Matthew, Mark, Luke and Jude since that is all that remains in the NT that Paul didn't write.

I believe the other way around. The words attributed to Jesus were put in his mouth by the authors/editors of the Gospel. Paul write seven authentic letters - Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Philemon, Galatians, and 1 Thessalonians.

Uh, because Paul significantly changed the church of Jesus from an informal group of tolerant people searching for truth, into the mega-church, rule dominated, tithing monster of a church we see today. And the Christians are likewise changed into the judgmental, cruel people spouting intolerance and loathing for anyone who is not them. Is that the St. Paul you meant?

Luke's gospel is a personal letter
The epistles of John, Peter, James and Jude are personal letters
Luke was a convert of Paul, do you reject both his Gospel and Acts of the Apostles now?

Please seek a personal relationship with God. He will help you to understand everything He wants you to know.
Religions teach the words of man....even though I believe that at least some of it was inspired by God. As long as man believes that he has the right to interpret for others, it will never be God's word alone.

As an ex Christian I can only say that I had a lot of trouble with Paul and he contributed in no small way to my loss of faith. He was not at all Christlike. Definately had his own agenda IMHO.
