Obviously it is not hard to get a used or NIB MAC-10. But just wondering, is anyone manufacturing the MAC-10 right now? And if not, why not?

Once the AWB ended, I would have thought a lot of these old guns would have come back. It seems only the AR-15 and new FN guns are doing well. No one has brought back the MAC-10/Tec-9/HK/Steyr AUG/USR/SSP, etc.

WTF!

Vulcan Armament is producing Mac-10 and Mac-11 variants. Most of the guns didn't come back on the market due to the fact that it would cost too much to start up production again after 10 years. As for the HKs, Steyrs etc. they didn't come back due to importation laws implemented during the ban, in regards to non sporting firearms. You can however make a firearm out of imported parts but you can only use 10 parts that are imported the rest must be made in the US. Their are alot of manufactures making "clone" firearms using original parts with US made receivers and barrels and a few other parts.

I don't think they're being manufactured anymore.

I would guess there isn't a high demand for something like the MAC-10 from honest citizens, they're just rediculous simple spray guns. Same thing with the Tec-9.

Companies make firearms that they think people will want to buy. And I don't understand what you mean saying "No one has brought back the HK/Steyr etc." Those are companies that still make all the same firearms. You can buy semi-automatic versions of the Steyr AUG if you look online, quite pricy but available.

Once the government made MAC manufacturers retool their gun to fire from a closed bolt, demand went way down. Conversion was way to easy with the older open bolt MACs.

That and other companies jumped into the market also. I think some guns kinds go the way he S+W Model 29 did. Everyone wanted one and prices were very high in the 70's. Then, most owners figured it was either way too much for them to shoot or way too expensive for them to shoot. Once the newer model MACS came out it was kinda the same thing I think.

Mac 10 is a very simple gun. There are now guns that do everything better than them (mac-10s and 11s are just lower quality uzis really). The TMP,MP5,MP5-k,MP-9, are ally newer machine pistols that are better. No one uses machine pistols except the military(mostly special forces) and criminals,so the only reason a company would manufacture machine pistols is Military and some law enforcement .And once a gun is built for the military, they usually don't get rid of it for a while
