One of the smallest unpopulated boringest states in country gets two races a year , yet Big states with lots of people have to drive 500 miles to see a race , to name a few that deserve at least one of the dover deleware races: Colorado , Washington , Oregon, Wisconsin , Oklahoma, Ohio, Massacutes and Hawaii.

by the way colorado has 4,753,377 people. and ranks as the 22nd most populated.. and just because hawaii is over an ocean does not mean its not feasible , remember nascar had a race in japan for serveral years , be it a non points event it was still done.

Because this is part of where every thing started right along the east coast and the south. NASCAR racing was fun back when they just run those original tracks. They sell out every race and it is fun to watch them there. IT HAS CHARACTER.
Now these new tracks that they are building are just for seat count. Not racing. They tracks have NO character to them they are what they call cookie cutters and they are boring, boring, boring. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT THAT
You stop for a minute and look at the old original tracks and look at these tracks and they have there own little thing about them. Not the standard 1.5 or 2 mile track that all look the same.
I live in OHIO and sure hope they don't try to build a nascar track here. In Ohio we have just short drives to Mich., Indy, Bristol. Pocono. You want to take a race away from somewhere try the California track where they can't sell the tickets.

- Dover has been a great track for years why take their race away?
- NASCAR is trying to build a track in Colorado and the Pacific NW for years. Its not their fault those states dont want it.
- Most of the population in Wisconsin is near the Illinois border and the Chicago track.
- Nobody lives in Oklahoma and its near Texas and Kansas.
- Ohio is near several other tracks like Michigan and Indy.
- Massachusetts is very densely populated so good luck getting a track there and New Hampshire is very close.
- Hawaii would be very expensive to fly everything out there and where are you going to find land that people will let them build on?
Good point about the new tracks Ray. They just arent as good as the original tracks. Im in Ohio too and Indy and MIS are both less than 4 hours from me. Not sure about Bristol.

Dover Downs - the race track has been there for YEARS.
and it attracts thousands of people.
If you have ever driven on rt 1 on a race weekend you know to be prepared for miles of traffic back up.
and Delaware is not the most boring state - have you spent any length of time there - the race way also sits right near the huge Air Force base that is there as well.
The beaches in delaware are some of the best beaches around - and yes it is the home of tax free shopping.
also not for nothing but " boringest" I don't believe is a word. I think what you would say is the most boring. or more boring. Perhaps one of your select states should pony up the cash and make their own race way.
and Delaware is spelled incorrectly in your title as well as in the body of your post.

Great track, sells lots of tickets. Delaware may have a small population, but there are over 18 million within a 200 mile radius. Including metro areas of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Trenton, Norfolk, etc.
That is a big audience to draw from. I don't think many western states have that density, except Southern Calif, and they have two races, along with one in Northern Calif.

The better question is why does California have 3 races?
Last time I checked a map Deleware is closer to the South(the birthplace of stockcar racing) than California.
Heyyell the best thing out of California is my wife.

Colorado is one of the least populated states in the country. Hawaii would be too hard to get all the equipment over there.

Why not? They have a first class facility and the "Monster Mile" race track. NASCAR has been racing in Dover for a long time.

Dude, Washington doesn't WANT a NASCAR race! Remember when some of the NASCAR folks were out there lobbying for a racetrack and the TERRIBLE reception they received? Don't see Washington getting a race for a very long time. It was embarrassing.

the northwest has no desire to have a nascar cup race, colorado had one, oklahoma is sparsley populated too, ohio should have one, maybe wisc too, mass. has loudon (close enough). i'd like to hear your idea for getting all that equipment to hawaii, and i dont think people out there give a hoot about nascar.

Pretty hard to have a NASCAR race in Hawaii. Lots of money to ship crews and cars over there.
