5oz of runts probably isn't going to affect a 40lb dog/puppy. Just keep an eye on him for vomiting and/or diarrhea (more than just once or twice, a little GI upset is normal after eating something they aren't used to) as sometimes ingesting a large amount of sugar or fat can cause pancreatitis which can require fluids and antibiotics. He'll most likely be just fine, but keep an eye on him for the next two days anyway.

He'll be fine. Although not the healthiest of snacks, Runts are not dangerous at all. Just remember to put all of your food and anything dangerous away when you are not watching the dog.

He'll be fine. It's just sugar. My dog ate a whole box of chololate covered raisins (chololate and raisins are really bad) and he's just fine. Just monitor his behavior and notice any changes. Also, you may want to brush his teeth or give him rawhide so that the sugar doesn't hurt his teeth. Hope this helps!!

If it's just sugar and artificial flavoring, he's probably OK. Chocolate and raisins are toxic to dogs, as are some non-sugar type sweetners. If you're really worried, you could call your vet. They will often answer that kind of question on the phone.

He should be fine - although his poopies will be rainbow colored for a day or two - and the sugar in the candy may affect them - either constipation or runny.

Make sure he gets access to all the water he cares to drink.

dogs are like kids - into everything.

Should be fine. Sometimes the food coloring in candy comes through in the poop, so don't be alarmed if it does.

Just keep him out of the candy in the future.

Just keep an eye on him. Since it was not chocolate he should be fine. Make sure that he stays away from candy...

If he is bright and alert with shiny eyes then he's okay. Just look for mopiness, no appetite, sad expressions. Those indicate that he doesn't feel good.

Runts are fine (just be more careful)...dogs are not suppose to eat 'chocolate' so please keep products with chocolate away from him.
