Ok this is my problem I am wanting to file for finacial aid for fall semester and my mother will not give me her fedral forms so I can complete the financial aid application she always says that they should not need my tax forms because I do not live with her and that I am an adult. So I call the financial aid office at my local community college and had them explain why they need her taxes. So after they explained to her why I then preceeded to ask her my I please have your tax forms so I can complete my financial aid application and she said well you dont even have a job to support you, remember college doesn't start until August, and I know I will find a job by then. Then she was like why don't you get a job before completing the application and I try to explain to her that you have to file in advance in order to ensure that everything will be completed before the semester starts. So she didn't want to hear that and started to say leave me alone and quit borthering me about it.

You could show her the FAFSA form, or the worksheet, that shows the circumstances where you still have to provide parental info. Whether or not you have a job isn't going to change that. Unless you meet the FAFSA rules for not needing parent's info, you still need it. Have you explained to her that his doesn't mean she'll have to pay anything, that it will just mean you might be able to get some financial aid?

Maybe you just won't be able to apply for FAFSA aid. Fortunately, community colleges aren't real expensive, so once you find a job you can probably pay for it if you have to.

There is no way as a dependent student that you can get around having your parents information on your fafsa. You can certainly fill it out but the fafsa application wont be processed with out your parents signatures and income tax info. There are things that will make you an independent student such as having a dependent, being married, being a veteran, turning age 24 or being a ward of the court. If none of these apply to you or will apply to you in the near future I encourage you to move forward in spite of the fact your parents are not willing to help in any way. Check in to job corp, they have locations all over and it will be something for you to do until you are 24 and old enough to not need your parents info on your fafsa application.
