She is scared of getting sick from water down in Cabo. I told her she didnt have too much to worry about as we are in a nice hotel in a very nice area. She still insists on bringing down some poland spring 1.5L bottles in our checked luggage (4-6). Is this allowed on a plane?

I dont want to hear about whether you think it is allowed or not or if you think it is a dumb idea, i want to know if it is allowed...thanks

Your girlfriend has some concerns over the water....do the right thing and play along (even if you know that you can buy bottled water once you get there). You'll be a happier man for it! You'll have to pack it in your checked luggage so make sure to put it in a sealed ziploc so just in case it breaks in-route, you don't have a suitcase full of wet clothes.

Oh......and just for your information, don't drink anything that's not in a can that's opened in front of you. Anything from a fountain (such as soda) is mixed with their water....and therefore can make you sick!

Have a great time!

YES - you can take it in your checked luggage. You just can't take it in your carry on. BUT (sticking to your question restrictions I'm just going to tell you a bit more about the conditions that it is allowed.) Your luggage has weight restrictions, you need to check those. They vary from airline to airline, but are consistent in that they are becoming more strict and more expensive. Typically a bag limit is 50 pounds. The last airline I flew said over 50 pounds was an extra $50 charge. Over 75 pounds was more. Now, one bottle weighs about 3.3 pounds. 6 bottles is closer to 20 pounds. That is likely to end up costing you.

Yes, I would only drink bottled water in Mexico. Yes, you got to watch the source of the bottled water. Yes, I'd probably have some for the day of my travel. But mainly I would buy it there.

Its not a dumb idea. You do NOT want to drink the water in Mexico or even in France b/c of the way their plumbing systems are. You will most likely get sick. I do not know if it is allowed on the planes bring it in your carry on bag or just call the airline that you are flying w/they will be the best ones to answer the question.

Oh don't worry....There is plenty of bottled water and in the hotels if it is decdent, they use water purifyers. Just try to order foods of drinks with less water from tap. Most times when the water is heated, germs, bacteria, ect are burned out or to a minimum. The sickness happens however, television makes it more than it is...Have FUN!
