I'm a 24 year old female and have just recently been talking with someone whos 34. I don't have a problem with it, but I'm afraid of what my family and friends will say or think about it. I'm ready to settle down, find love, and be in a serious relationship and me and this guy get along great. But how do I deal with the negative comments? Is this too much an age difference?

Only ten years difference? Don't let that bother you one bit, and don't spend a lot of time worrying about how others feel; they are not living your life....you are!
Back in the early years of this country the average age difference was 10 to 20 years difference in marriages.
I was married to a lady 27 years younger than I. We lived together for two years and were married for five years after that. When our careers started diverging we were both smart enough, and in love enough to know when to let go. We had a dissolution of our marrige and lived together for two years after that. We still get along great and are the best of friends.
Age is a number that needs to be ignored at times.

There's 25 years difference between me and my partner.

That said, if you were 14 and he 24 I'd call him a pedophile - but you're 24 and he is 34. That's not that great a difference now.

I wouldn't be so concerned about what other people think - Their opinion, while important - is really only somewhat important - not vital. Besides, I"m sure they will adore him for the darling, and wonderful man he is.

Instead, I'd focus on the things you have in common - your faith, careers, hobbies, goals, plans.

If you really care about him, then the age difference wont matter. Your family and friends will see that you really care about each other, adn they'll see that you should be together. Good Luck!

The age difference really isn't all that great. Go for it!

Obviously this guy isn't for you.

If you care for someone then it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. It is your life and happiness.

So maybe find someone else or just don't worry about what other people think.
