I feel you would owe them something - gratitude is already a given, if you don't give that, then really, why did you -let- them save you?
Personally, I think the biggest thing you could give to someone like that is an undying friendship.

Well, they shouldn't be looking for anything to begin with, it was hopefully done out the goodness of their heart. But, if you wanted you can give them something in return. I don't think you owe them however, but you should be grateful.

No, as it was that person's choice to save you. You should not be bound by another person's choice, no matter how influential it is. However, if you feel grateful, you would usually say thank you. Even this is not a necessity. What comes naturally from your gratitude is appropriate.

You owe them a big fat Thank You for their good deed. I don't think you should feel indebted to them as a endentured servant for life. If they did as a real heartfelt good deed they won't always mention it, or hold it over your head.

If you're talking about a person, then no. You don't owe them anything except for your thanks. If you're talking about Christ, that's a whole other story. He doesn't just save lives, he saves eternal souls.
