Without a doubt, the most original proposal I have ever heard!!!
I strongly suggest you meet the artist the day before. This way he/she knows who you are, you know where their stand is and NOTHING can go wrong!!! As you are sitting there next to your future fiancee, whether you are holding her hand or cuddling her, don't forget to mention how much you LOVE her and how much she means to you.
She will be so touched that when the artist is done, with all the emotions you expressed and her seeing the picture and you automatically on your knee it will be the BEST DAY OF HER LIFE - EVER!!!!!!
Keep us posted!!!
Oh to add a little more sweetness:
Once you pick her up - give her 1 long stemmed Red rose.
Tell her something like, " I was walking by the flower shop and saw this rose through the window. It was so beautiful and it stood out from all the rest - it reminded me of someone very special and dear to me so I had to buy it only to give it to its rightful owner. Honey, I love you!"
You'll be KING forever!!! My Hubby still is!!!! ;)

This sounds like a lovely idea, it's sweet and original; and you'll also have a keepsake of the occasion. The artist can know who you are if you describe yourself and fiancee physically, what you plan to wear, and you can also tell him that you will say a code phrase. All these clues will make it clear to him who you are.
Follow this with flowers and dinner at a nice restaurant to celebrate, and you'll have it made. Don't forget to bring a cell phone, you'll both want to make calls to share the good news with family and friends.

That's pretty original to me, better than my proposal! Is there a significance of the pier and the artist to her or you as a couple?
I like it, go for it and good luck!

I think that's GREAT. No need for any changes but make sure you get down a one knee...it's romantic. The drawing will also be such a great keepsake. Congrats!
