You should tip a couple of bucks at least. More if they are especially pleasant and do a good job.

I know I might get flamed for this, but I don't. Most hairdressers actually "rent" the chair they cut from. Meaning, the hairdressers charge what they want, not the actually hair salon. Granted, not all places are like this. Find out first if your hairdresser rents the chair, or if she gets paid from the salon. The other thing too is, most places charge an outrageous amount to cut a woman's hair! I got my hair TRIMMED for $30! I mean, come on now! If I were a guy, they would've charged me $10. So I mean, they charge stupid amounts as is. I'm not about to give them an extra $5-10 as a "tip".

Yes. I tip $5-$20 depending on what all she does. I do disagree with not tipping the owner if they're the ones working. And they have a lot more bills and stress. But I wouldn't tip more or less than any other hair stylilst there.

Yes, yes, YES. You are receiving a service. You should always tip your stylist, if she does a good job. I tip 20%. One of my best friends is a stylist. She does a great job. Most people don't know it takes approximately two years to build a solid clientele and booth rent can be extravagant in most salons. Tipping allows them to actually take some money home!

If they do a good job, and are not the owner of the shop, then yes. You should also tip the person who shampoos your hair if it is not the same person.

YES!
Around 15% is customary. If you really like the cut, give her/him more. If you don't like it, decide whether or not you were upfront with what you wanted in the first place & tip based on that.

when you go to the liquor store and ask for a bottle behind the counter, do you tip the cashier for getting it for you? when you go get your tires done and he has to walk inside the store to get your tires, do you tip him for the walk? why would someone pay someone for doing a nice job, isnt that what their wage is for?
