In religion, prayer is a way of communing with "GOD"

In reality, it is a form of self-introspection, so that we may sort out what is real to us, and what is not, what our goals and wants are and a way we can get direction on bringing them to pass.

It provides a medium for peace of mind...and a time of tranquility from the cares of this life.

In doing so, we become closer to God, and are better able to face life with a more "upright" attitude.

Prayer is one of THE most important aspects of Faith.

I pray because I want to tell God how much I love him and thank him for all he's done and of course pray for him to change me and make me a better person. I also pray when I need an answer from God. Sometimes I just pray so I can talk to him and then I wait for him to answer:)

Not all of us pray FOR something.

Many of us pray simply to worship.

Blessed be God.
Blessed be His Holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
Blessed be the Name of Jesus.
Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be His Most Precious Blood.
Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most Holy.
Blessed be her Holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her Glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse.
Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints. Amen.

1. Wisdom
2. Salvation of others
3. Forgiveness
4. Healing
5. Thanksgiving & Praise
This isn't necessarily the order of priorities.

Can you please clarify your question? Do you mean, what is prayer for, IE... , the purpose, like, How does it benefit one? How do you pray, as in meaning the Scriptural based way of prayer? Or what do we pray for, as in what reason is there to pray? Or are you thinking prayer is like having a magic lamp off of "Aladdin", rub it and be granted 3 wishes?
I am not trying to be seem rude, far from it; just looking for clarification, so I might know in what direction to proceed with the answer. All of these over lap to a degree...

By the question you listed here is what I can share, at this moment. read it please and please clarify your need request, I will come back and clarify based on your response. maybe you are asking for just personal insights???? i hope this might help with your clarification.
