I have 3 kids ages 7, 3 and almost 2 and I have no idea what to do with them all day. It seems like my day to day is full or chaos and I have no set times for anything.

Take notes on what Super Nanny does (or Nanny 911):

Does your 7-year-old play nicely with the younger ones? Or is he/she rough with them, jealous of them feeling that they get more mommy time than he/she does? The age difference indicates that they're not all going to be "into" the same things and the older one needs to have his/her own "space" and activities. How well does the older one keep himself occupied apart from the younger ones?

The two younger ones should be able to play together much of the time (nicely, I mean) if they don't feel that they are in competition with each other for mommy's attention or for sharing toys, etc.

Here are my suggestions:
1. Find a way to give each child some individual attention each day.
2. Teach loving respect and kindness -- every child toward both siblings as well as to adults.
3. You may need to help your 7-year-old learn to play independently (not that he/she needs to be apart from the others all the time). You could work with him while the others are napping. Do some things with him that he can later do by himself.
4. Play with the younger ones while the older one is in school or otherwise occupied. Make it clear to them that being "nice" is expected and being "mean" will not be tolerated. Even the little one can learn to share and take turns but it won't be easy at first.
5. I believe that routine is more important than an exact schedule, since you will need to be flexible. If your children know that, for example, indoor play time follows breakfast while mommy loads the dishwasher, and then we all go outside to play, and after that we have lunch and a nap; that will make things easier for you and for them and will tame the chaos. Children do much better when they know what to expect during their day.
6. If yours is a two-parent family, daddy needs to know that he also must give each child some individual attention, and should be a part of the routine: maybe jammies and a bedtime story for example.

The main thing is, figure out a routine that will work well for YOU while keeping the kids' needs in mind too. Interaction with your children is key. You'll recall that in most of the chaotic homes Nanny has visited there was not enough interaction between parents and children and not enough consistency. Hope this is helpful!

Nanny Schedule

Join a mommy group: meetup.com has great ones depending on where you live if you just want out of the house with them. They put together a bunch of fun stuff to do with your little ones and you have other mom's to relate to. As for the schedule, I ended up making up one for myself because I couldn't find any good ones on the web. My 2.5 year old's schedule consists of breakfast then playtime outside, a snack, more play, lunch, a video or books to settle down for a nap and when he wakes up he can play indoors or out, eats dinner, takes a bath and then goes down. I've never been much of a "schedule" person, so this is really basic and we usually have other stuff to do, but it keeps my sanity knowing I have some control over something and he has a little predictability over the day. Good luck :)

You can customize this chore chart into a schedule. Lots of great themes. Choose black and white instead of color and then your kids can color in the pictures and be a part of the creation of your schedule. Good luck!!
