not under $2, but will probably go down some again during the next elections.

Gas prices will never come down again to the 'cheap' levels of late 90's. You will get used to paying more so it wont seem so bad.
The price of a barrel of oil isn't very much greater than it was in the early 1970's, particularly if you take inflation into account. The price of gas is way higher. (Oil about double, but gas is about 20 times more expensive than back then)
Someone is gouging the hell out of 'us' and calling it either fair market practice or good business?
I don't think its all bad though as it keeps the retards off the road to a certain extent (the people who drive around because they have nowhere to go and need to get there as quickly as possible)

under $2 a gallon? ummmm, highly unlikely. i can remember the days when the regular grade would be 85 cents; this was about 1986 or '87. its been slowly going up since then, and massively since the day the twin towers fell, and when hurricane katrina raped the gulf coast.
if....and the keyword here is if....the gas goes under 2.50 a gallon, we'd be fortunate. under 2 a gallon, u'd have an easier time outrunning the highway patrol on a harley.

yes because on the Give Me A Break segment of 20/20 they said back in 1981 gas was as high as it is now or higher and many of the things we take for granted have gone up more in price like gas.

I have more questions than answers:
Will the auto makers ever get out of bed with the oil companies?
Will all of us try to find ways to get where we need to go, without jumping into our gas guzzlers?
Will the buying public ever accept electric cars again?
Will we ever use solar power to make electricity?

Eventually, technology will drive the price of gasoline down by introducing more efficiencies into our everyday, commuter lives. However, gasoline is a market-driven commodity and, as long as we are still buying vehicles such as SUVs and P/U trucks which aren't very fuel efficient, demand will keep the price of gasoline high.

They'll probably hit $2 this fall sometime, but they won't stay there. Expect every summer to be $3+++ with the long-term trend going up.
Hope you didn't just buy a Hummer.

I doubt it.
If the gas keeps going up, I'll need a raise just to be able to afford it! I remember when it took $10 to fill up my Civic. Now it is taking up to $36. I wish there was something we could do about it...
... I'm going to go find my own oil!! =D

It'll come down some, but under $2? I greatly doubt it.
