find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I know the feeling I'm overweight as well (and not one of those skinny people who say they're overweight :-) Well as much as you're probably not going to want to hear it... I think diet and exercises, that's all that's ever worked for me. Try counting calories (keep a notebook with you at all times and write down what you eat and how may cal.) It sounds like a pain but I lost about 15 lbs. in one month just doing that alone (I'm horrible with finding time to exercises too). Really I think to get the full results you have to exercises with it, and maybe you can make it a family thing. After you get home from work you and your kids could take a walk or if you're close to any hiking trails do that, or you could all go swimming together, or buy some family bikes and go riding. Good luck on your weight loss... try to find a support group too, even if it's just online. I think I-Village has one. They can always cheer you up when you feel like quiting. Hope this helps.

Opps... I just looked at your profile pic. and realized you were a guy, so maybe I-Village support groups wouldn't be the best, but I'm sure if you do an online search you can still find a good one. Sorry, most weight loss questions seem to come from females, so I guess I just need to stop stereo typing :-)

It's "lose" (loose is what you want your pants to be when the pounds come off) and you lose weight by burning more calories than you consume.

Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet...drink lots of water...try eating 4 - 6 small meals a day instead of the typical 3 (you burn more calories that way) and try to exercise at least 5 days a week, for 1 hour a day (doesn't have to be all at one time).

A gym isn't needed...get out and walk around your neighborhood or some place that is safe to do so...get your body moving...get up a little earlier in the mornings and do an aerobic workout with the TV or a video or DVD. Park your car towards the back of parking lots so you'll have further to walk into work or the store...add as many steps to your day as you can via stairs instead of elevator, or walking around when on the phone versus sitting.

I've been there (topped out at over 230 myself, years ago) but it can be done! It takes determination and willpower though...once you have those, it just takes some time.

Good luck!

If you don't have time to exercise right now, at least make major changes to your diet. If you eat less than your body would normally burn during a day, you'll lose weight.

I use www.thedailyplate.com to track my calories. The site tells you how much to eat to lose 1 - 2 pounds a week.

Once you start losing weight, you'll have more energy and will hopefully want to start exercising to speed up the progress.

a million. It's as sensible as this, when you burn off extra that you just devour then you'll drop some pounds so that you have to both devour much less or do extra however the satisfactory method is to do each. two. You have to do a blend of aerobic - going for walks, jogging, swimming, biking and so on and force coaching like crunches and weights. three. To drop some pounds and preserve it off you have to devour healthily and endeavor for the relaxation of your existence that's why this can be a well concept to discover a vitamin and endeavor movements that's smart, you experience and do not try to lose it too speedily.
