not exactly a fine..you can be jailed and possibly in prison depending on outcome of accident. Stupidity plays a big part. Anyone who leaves the scene of an accident is a coward.

It depends. What were the circumstances? Were you at fault? What state do you live in? City? Was anyone hurt? Were you sober? It varies from place to place, and the circumstances often dictate how serious the crime is. Under the right circumstances, you might only get under a couple of hundred dollars fine. That said, you could also get jail time for that. It really depends on a lot of factors.

Pretty high. I have a niece who thought this would be a good idea recently. Now she's having to pay a hefty fine and she's got a black mark on her record.

You get charged with hit and run, and can face a $5000.00 fine/and or a year in jail. Plus you'll have to pay restitution (repay damages) court costs and attorney fees.
