shouldn't all the christians be able to agree on one christian church? if there is only one god and only one truth, shouldn't they be able to decide on this truth? the fact that there are so many denominations says to me that none of you really know what the bible means and are only interested in your own interpretation of it.

Christianity is not unlike your local deli : you can pick and choose what you want and don't want.

Good point. What is funny is that the Christian denominations that are most intelligent usually do not follow the bible very closely. Whereas, denominations, such as Church of God, Pentecostal churches, etc., that are typically less educated people, follow the bible verbatim. The latter are considered extremists and weirdos, even by other Christians.

Here is what happened when the reformation came the Catholics hung on to their religion and the Protestants advanced to being saved by Grace in Faith. Then another movement came by Wesley for the holiness movement. Then the move of the Holy Spirit by Seymour, 1940's healing revival and then Charismatic movement.

Isaiah 59:19 "So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him (the enemy).

The Lord has constantly given us a way of defending ourselves against Satan and we just keep holding on to our old religion when we could have it all. Perry Stone just recently taught this to me.

What is the point of that? Everyone has the same core beliefs, but they choose to express them in different ways. Different people feel different things are more important than others. None of that matters in the end. A good person is a good person, regardless of what religion they were raised to follow.

Most Christian churches agree on the basics. They differ on nonessentials.

Your thoughts are the exact same as Jesus.
He said:
"This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach as doctrines commands of men.’ Letting go the commandment of God, YOU hold fast the tradition of men.” Mark 7:6-8

Yes, likewise the atheists should all agree... because we all know how good man is at being on one accord.
