I would suggest keeping lots of fruit on hand. When she is hungry, she has a choice between fruit, cut veggies or NOTHING. If she's really hungry, she'll eat the healthy stuff. If she was just playing you, trying to get junk food, she suddenly won't be so hungry.

This way, you are also teaching good eating habits.

Although snacks have their place in a child's diet, the constant whining for food can be extremely nerve wracking. My kids do this too, conveniently when I've just cleaned the kitchen from our last meal.
On grocery day I'll do a "help yourself" basket & fill it with whole wheat crackers, ripe fruit like bananas that I don't have to cut, and granola bars. They can eat whatever they like from the basket but when it's gone, it is gone.
I also keep lots and lots of string cheese on hand. Lean proteins cure a sweet tooth quickly as does a nice cold glass of milk. Good luck!

My daughter is every 2 hours...she's "STARVIN'!" She will eat a whole meal...but 2 hours later it's.."I'm starvin!"..she's no-where near over weight. I was the same way at her age..I've been skinny all my life. Maybe it's the metabolism. My daughter is 4 and a half.... But yea..I know what ya mean. She just loves to eat! And so did I..Attention has nothing to do with it..we are always doing stuff with the kids. So don't let anyone make you feel that is the prob. When i was young I was spoiled with attention but still loved to eat!!!!!!!!!

Limit the number of times she can snack. Have Breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner and a snack and do not sway. Be sure snacks are healthy and will stay with her but not so long that she won't eat a meal. That is the only thing I can think of. I had to do this with my son. He always asks to eat and I had to stop giving so many snacks so he would eat meals.

Mine does that also. She's like a teenage boy sometimes.

If it's not meal-time, I offer fruits, veggies, or a homemade trail mix (nuts and dried fruit), or sometimes I'll make a peanut butter sandwich for her. I know when she's trying to get a treat instead of being truly hungry, because she'll balk at those and decide not to eat anything.

Well take her to the doctor to make sure she does not have a tape worm or anything like that. Also is she drinking enough liquids and water? If shes not getting enough water and is becoming dehydrated she will feel like she is hungry, when in all reality shes thirsty.

Keep lots of healthy snacks and give her those! Grapes are nice to grab a handful then she can eat a few and be happy. Also there are blueberry yogurt cheerios that are yummy...she might like a handful of those. This is oh so normal for little ones, it's like they have a hollow leg or something!

My advice...patience patience patience! Have fun! :P

Catch her attention after she eats, take her for a walk or read her a story. It sounds like she is just getting bored or wanting more attention. If she does ask for something give her something healthy like raisins or fresh veggies.

Offer only healthy choices or, if right after dinner, more dinner. If she's really hungry she'll take that apple or carrot...if she's just looking for a sweet she won't be hungry anymore.

I'd also discuss this with her doctor.
