"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.

Howard Johnson (1915)

it means different things to different people. mother is intended to refer to the the female parent. some people think of the loving kind woman that gave birth to them and many other good things. others think of a wretched evil woman that just happened to give birth to them. some people have other women that act as mother figures for them. when i say that i mean the loving kind woman that gave them "life" and many other good things. but its referring to the female parent most of the time.
