I would not think so since she has a permanant disability I know in my state IA you would not because it is a life long condition.....you may want to check with your state DHS office but I would think she would not.

She won't lose Medicare. Does she have ssdi or ssi? If she has been declared disabled by Social Security and gets a monthly payment, she shouldn't lose that. Medicaid, however, is often based on income so there is a possibility she will no longer qualify for it with your income.

Are you freaking serious right now. First of all your only 16 so your still young so don't even trip about if she don't want too be with you or not I'm telling you its plenty other females out here in this world just to be tripping over 1 get yourself together move on seriously cause obviously she don't respect you or didn't have respect for the relationship if she left you after 5 years in knowing that you loved her that's crazy for-real.

It would depend on the change of income. She could still remain on disability - those benefits would not change since they are based on her work history. However, since her financial status would change and you might have insurance through your employer
medicare/medicaid could change as well as her SSI. Keep in mind if you decide to live together she can lose her medicaid and SSI because of the change of income into the home. Stinks, I know. I have an adult daughter who is disabled because of emphysema and I am on it for Lupus. I have been denied SSI and Medicaid because her benefits are considered income.

It would be best to contact the SS office, or for her to talk to her case worker. That way she will get the correct information as to how this will effect her. When my daughter lived with her sister, her benefits were decreased somewhat until she got into her own apartment. You do not contact DHS, as they have nothing to do with her SSI benefits. It would be Social Security benefits. DHS would have to do with her medical and food stamps so she would contact them for that information. If she lives in low income housing, she will need to find out about that also, as there will be a change in the amount she will have to pay for housing.

Best answer is to call dept of social services in your county and ask. I hope you are employed, just a thought.
