That movie freaked me out not only because of the brainwashing-like camp practices, but because of the way their opponents responded to it as well.
It is okay to teach, but it is not okay to brainwash. Part of education is teaching people about the alternative beliefs that exist in all aspects of life. After you have learned about the alternatives you can safely wend your way along the "right" path.

Yeah, my kids are due for their weekly torture and brainwahing today. Tomorrow comes the animal sacrifice and floggings, and on Wed. they get a break and simply need to read their Bible 432 times aloud before lunch. See, even Christians have a sense of humor... I teach my kids about God and Jesus, but let them make up their own minds. It's part of being a parent.

that's exactly what is happening in palestine, in many african countries which have "children soldiers" ...
That's the worst thing ever. And it's even worse in the US as you have a alphabetisation rate of almost 100% !!!
Bringing people to think with their heart, using feelings instead of rational thinking in that kind of big camps is completely against the freedom of will as the child is intellectually underaged!

Kids aren't indoctrinated. Why do you think that teaching kids about God or Jesus is any different than teaching kids about the internal combustion engine (or anything else for that matter)? Is it brainwashing to teach kids that they should share, or respect other people, or not to kill? Jesus said to respect people, share and not to murder.

Those kids were very passionate about the Lord. I see nothing wrong with that. I have seen that documentary and it is a very balanced documentary that shows both sides of the arguement. Why do kids have to be brainwashed just because they believe in the Lord and his promises? The people in that film were teaching from the Bible, it wasn't as though they were being manipulative. I wish I had the zeal some of those kids have.

I don't think it's okay, but what are you going to do? As bad as it seems, I think having the government step in and take these kids away from otherwise loving parents is WAY worse. And any other interference just reinforces their persecution complex.
Ugh...

The woman running that camp ought to be locked up. The kids should undergo intense psychotherapy.

It goes beyond teaching Christianity and into torture.
You think *that's* scary, you should see what those types of parents put their GAY kids through.

Its horrible!! Using children to advocate adult purposes is sick, not matter how "noble" they think their cause is. Kids should be coloring pictures of Jesus, not being told how evil they are and they are going to hell and take "field trips" to abortion clinics!! God doesn't want an "army"!! He wanted love! Its twisted!
