It depends on your definition of "real christian." Many people think christians aren't real because they make mistakes or fail or are publicized as doing something really bad. You would have to look at the heart to know for sure. Christianity is far from the religion of perfect people.

Here's the thing: every Christian I know says that they are "real" or "true" Christians...and the ones that disagree with them on are not. Of course, that means that all of them are telling all of the REST of them that they aren't "real" Christians.
Therefore, I must be led to believe that none of them are. I don't know, really, what the repercussions of that are...but it seems the only logical outcome. The liberal Christians say that the conservative ones are too much like the Pharisees and so aren't "real." The conservative Christians say that the liberal Christians are corrupting the message of their god and so aren't "real." I think they all need to get their story straight before they try to convert any of us to join in the game.

Say you are watching as a Father calls his two daughters to work in the field.
One says "Forget you, I ain't goin'", but she goes anyway and works in the field.
Another says "No problem, I will go right now", but she doesn't go working in the field at all.
If you don't go with the Father and watch the field, how will you know which one actually went and did His work.
That's all to say: who really knows who's being a "real" Christian but the Father who's watching His fields.

God makes the "real Christian" - in the font of Holy Baptism. It is nothing we can do on our own. It's all God's Grace. Even the faith we profess is a gift from God almighty.
Therefore - all Baptized persons are real Christians. They may be good Christians, or not-so-good Christians, but they are Christians, in the eyes of God, none-the-less.

I would say 20% of those that claim to be Christians are real Christians.
