Green has been used since the mid 1950's, at least. Prior to that operating theaters used white linens. Surgeons complained that there was an uncomfortable glare off the white garments and wound coverings. The glare came from the bright operating room lights. So some intelligent person - probably a nurse condemned to anonymity - suggested green to lessen the glare. The idea was rapidly adopted.

The lights used in the operating theatre are very bright. They are also focussed on the operating zone. Most of these luminaires are tungsten filament lamps, which also generate a lot of heat.

To cut out the heat a greenish IR filter is used for the bulbs.

Since the open surgical wound is red with blood it contrasts well with the green light. Use of green dress also enhances this contrast.

I bought cloth wipes and made my own solution. I put it in a spray bottle and it worked really well. If I remember correctly it was water and baby oil. I can't remember what ratio though. You can google baby wipe solution and there should be several different recipes. I did have regular wipes on hand too for those really nasty clean ups. I Absolutely loved cloth diapering and I miss it. Now that my babies are potty trained (which is great) I don't get to do it anymore.

Green color indicates freshness or greenery. U might also have seen them wearing grey or white colored dresses. So the color has nothing to do with the operation. Just that they want everything in uniform & to keep calm. It distractes the patient's mind with dark colors like red, black or yellow.
