I've only met one genuine person in my life. Genuinity is the most important part of a relationship. If you're not genuine, then it's fake. You will simply know if a guy is genuine. If you have to second guess his intentions, chances are that he's not. Like I said, you will just know it when he is genuine, but some of the prominent things that give it away are: he doesn't care about the physical things, and prefers to just talk to you. He shares himself completely, and is not afraid to be emotional. He'll let you know when he's upset/mad at you, without playing head games. He'll stand up for you, not because it's "expected", but because it hurts him more than it hurts you. He'll be there for you, and always know how to make things better, even when it seems impossible... and honey, the list goes on and on and on. Like I said, you'll just know. For now, just hang in there, and if you're sure that this guy is not the genuine type, let him go. I believe that there is only one person out there for each and every one of us that is genuine about the romantic things they feel.

It is not that easy to tell if a guy is genuine. This characteristic and quality of people, sorrowfully, can only be tested in certain experiences. You cannot tell that a guy is genuine overnight.
But if we love somebody, we will look upon him/her as the most perfect person, which is sometimes fatal and disastorous. Parteners who are breaking up or who broke up, would never believe that they would some day. Here is the clue.
Assuming I'm in a new relation or am about to start one, I should leave a space within my mind and heart for safe retreat.
It's difficult, I admit. But SAFETY is something that matters.

This is an age old question. The only clear path to wak is asking. There's no way anyone else can tell you how to tell if someone is truely sinceare. Especially if we're looking in third-person perspective. For example, I was in a relationship where I felt like I was really in the dark about things, and I felt like just "a girl" and not a girlfriend. I told him how I felt - and asked him if he truely loved me... when I brought the issue to light, we made a compromise and he let me know as well that he did love me and that he didn't realize I questioned how he felt. Maybe your guy friend is the same way. The only sure-fire way is to ask!

Unfortunately, you just can't always tell. Some guys are psychopaths and born actors, so they can put on a really good show. Your best bet is to proceed VERY slowly and keep your eyes peeled for any inconsistencies or suspicious behavior.
