After another failed quit attempt I have been offered Champix (on an NHS prescription) and I'm keen to get started! I can't find that much on that there t'internet on it though...except for what Pfizer say and some 'cold-turkey' evangelists!
Have you taken it? Did it work? Got any links to good info?
Thanks for answering!

Thanks Leslie S. In the UK we can get this drug on prescription from the doctors...the charge is about £7 ($11) per item so cost is not a factor. m x

The effectiveness of Champix (called Chantix outside of Europe) in smoking cessation was demonstrated in six clinical trials, which included a total of 3659 chronic cigarette smokers who were treated with varenicline. Five of the six studies were randomized, controlled clinical trials in which Champix was shown to be superior to placebo in helping people quit smoking. These smokers had previously averaged 21 cigarettes a day for approximately 25 years.

Recently, a spokesperson for NICE said: “Having looked at all the evidence, our independent Committee have concluded that varenicline appears to be a good way to help people who want to quit smoking.

The medication is called CHANTIX. It's a great drug and I've had many success stories because of it. It works by tricking your body into thinking that it has nicotine when it doesn't. Much the way that Pozac binds with receptors in your body to give you a happy feeling...Chantix binds with receptros in the body to make you feel as if you have nicotine when you don't. The only problem with it is that some insurance companies don't cover it...but I feel that the cost is well worth it (Take a look at how much you spent on nicotin in the last month, I'm sure the chanitx will be less cost than that). Best of luck to you!!!

Yep, somedays are worse than others. I find that my day is much more tolerable if I take him out in the morning. The day goes by quicker. I just have to make sure I am home in time for his nap. His nap = my time!!!!!! No substitute for that! I feel aggravated that I get NO housework done. Ok...you said no advice about mom's groups but I just HAVE TO chime in... I joined one a month ago and my quality of life has improved drastically! It's not just about playing with the kids, the moms get together and play cards and goof off...I must say I wouldn't have guessed how much fun I would be having! Plus we have a babysitting co-op where there are days when you can just get out of the house ALONE. Good luck. Sounds like someone is up from his nap! Round three is about to begin.
