Just make sure you really, really like what you get, and that it means something to you. I have one tattoo that I got on a whim, and kind of regret it. All my others I love because I put thought into them and they are beautiful and mean something to me. So good luck and like I say really think about your tattoo choice, and the placement. One big tattoo looks a lot nicer that a bunch of little ones that you need a microscope to see what it is, from a little distance it looks like a dark splotch of ink.
I just wanted to add that if somebody looks down on you for having a tattoo they are not worth knowing.

I have 3 I love them all. Getting a tat is something you really need to think about it is for the most part permanent. Each of mine have a special meaning to me. No one else knows what they mean or stand for. They just think that they are cool tats. I have one on my back that's big and comes up the back of my neck which is not a big deal cause I am a woman and can hide it with my hair.. My biggest thing is that I can show'em off If I want to or hide them if I don't. I want to get more just trying to figure out what I want.. I have met a lot of older people that do regret them, however if you ask them why, when, and where they got them, that will give you a lot of in site on why they regret them. And yes they do hurt but mine was worth every minute of it.. Hope this helps.. You really just have to decide if a tat is right for you. And your best bet if you are unsure start small.

I got a tattoo a few years ago..had thought about getting one for a while..but I wanted to be sure it was really something I wanted. Well needless to say I was pregnant and loss my baby girl due to an infection when I was about 5 months along..I never got to know my daughter or anything. So I got a tattoo of a cross, ( 4 in. x 4 in. on my outer right leg just above the ankle), with a ribbon going around it with her name inside..along with a purple rose behind the ribbon but on top of the cross, and in the middle of the cross I got the a flame symbolizing eternal life, the rest of the cross is shaded to show dimension I do not regret getting my tattoo what so ever. Mine to me has sentimental value behind it. I wouldn't care what anyone thought of my tattoo or me because I have it..because to me it means something more than just having a tattoo. I don't regret it when i got it. now or when I'll be 80 yrs old. I would just be sure it's something you really ,really want and in years to come not be ashamed of or embarrassed to have.

i have 2 tattoos, and am getting another in 4 days. pick a design/pattern/whatever that matters and means something special to you, decreasing the chance of you ever regretting it. i got my first tattoo with my sister; its the celtic sisterhood knot on the inside of my wrist, and i would never regret getting it. it hurts a little at first, but if it means that much to you, then the pain isnt anything big. good luck!

i have 3 tattoos and i have no regrets. but i will say think long and hard before getting one. when i was 14 my mom was going to let me get mickey mouse on my ankle. im so glad i didnt do that because now 10 years later i would have been upset with that choice. also they are very addictive its easy to say i want another one and another one. i wanted more but i think im done. i dont want to look up and my skin is covered in tattoos. i also have all mine in discreet places because im not married yet and i think about how they would like with my wedding dress lol.

wheni got my tattoo, i didn't really think about it, it was kind of like "yea, i want a tattoo, i'm gonna go get one right now", and i did. i dont regret getting it, however i probably would've thought about it a little more. i originally wanted a virgo sign with some shooting starts or something with just black ink, but because i didn't really think about it, i let the guy talk me into getting some blue added to it. its cute, dont get me wrong, but it changed the entire thing, and if i could do it again, i definetly wouldn't add the blue. i'm actually thinking about getting it fixed (adding some more black over the blue). we'll see. definetly think about it before you do it! its there for the rest of your life.

Lots of people have lots of regrets. Some of them might be about the tattoos they got.
IMPORTANT: THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL REGRET YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regret is a part of life.

I have no regrets, but I think if you are going to get one it needs to have some meaning. If you something that is pointless and doesn't mean anything you will regret it.

Getting a tattoo used to be a symbol of being an individual or a rebel or something. Now it is just a way of symbolizing that you are a follower.
